FAL in the Fall/Winter

I have been unaccountably absent from my dear crochet blog.

I apologize for that, but I’m finally getting around to posting fun pictures!

Currently, I am lost in the process of FAL: Finishing Along. At one point, I had about 5 or 6 crochet projects going, and one knitting project.  Many of these are Christmas presents, so I can’t show the entire project, but I would like to show you snippets of work I’m doing.  I hope to be back to my “regularly scheduled programming” after Christmas.

Without further ado, let’s get to the crochet!

As many of you that follow me on Instagram will already know, I finally completed my Nuts About Squares blanket. This is, by far, the most complicated project I have ever completed. I began in April and finished in November. It is a Christmas present for my parents.

Next, I completed a yoga mat bag. There is no pattern for the bag itself, so I had fun “pooling” colors the way I wanted.  The strap pattern is not my own. It came from a book which I will quote later since I do not have the information nearby.

The next work-in-progress is a psychedelic flower shawl I am creating myself: no pattern. It is going to be a Christmas present. I am using three kinds of yarn: a Sweet Roll variegated yarn in  “Jello Pop,” a Vanna’s Choice green (I think it might be Kelly Green) and a Red Heart Super Saver purple yarn.

Below is a close up of a project I recently finished that I will be giving as a Christmas present. I am calling it, “Winter Blueberry Patch.” It is made using three colors of Caron Simply Soft yarn.

As if that wasn’t enough to keep me busy, my crochet mentor Polly Plum just released a new pattern and I just had to try it right away.  It’s called “Granny in the Sky with Diamonds.”  The pattern can be found on Ravelry, and her blog post can be found here.  If you are a crocheter, you will really enjoy this and get a chuckle at the name once you begin.  The following image is a picture of the final product and is taken directly from her website. It is not my picture or pattern:

I wanted to switch it up a bit, so I chose a very unusual color scheme for my blanket: pinks and purples! (This photo is the start of my own blanket.)photo

That is my progress with my all of my “FAL”s!  I’ve got the Christmas music playing as I wrap this up and tomorrow, we are off to get a Christmas tree!  I bet Ralphie and his bee-bee gun might make an appearance on the tv this weekend.  😉

I hope you are all well and remembering the little things that bring you joy in this hectic, emotional time of the year.
